David Trost was born on April 26, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were Robert and Leah Trost.
He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. David grew up in Chicago with his older sister, Jackie, surrounded by friends and family. He met Harriet "Cookie" and was immediately smitten. They spent 63 wonderful years together. In 1964 they relocated their family to Southern California. David began his career at Thrifty Drugs and met lifelong friends. He then became an on the road salesman where he loved traveling across the west coast to meet with his clients. David and Cookie enjoyed traveling to Kauai, cruising in Alaska, camping in their homemade trailer with their kids, bowling, and hosting BBQ’s and swimming parties in their big backyard. David also enjoyed weekend rides on his motorcycle, playing softball, and spending quality time with his beautiful German Shepherd, Chipper. David and Cookie were very involved with scouting with their four children, Lee, Renee, Michelle and Sheri. He was a very supportive scout parent involved with planning, transportation, activities and opening his home to scout meetings. In later life, he enjoyed spending time with his thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. David had a fantastic sense of humor which drew in everyone around him and a goofy demeanor which made everyone laugh. He cared deeply about those around him and had an ever-growing extended family. David expressed his love through actions as he was a man of few words. After many years of working for others, David and Harriet opened their own business, “The Electronic Connection”, supplying auto security and sound equipment to installers. Retiring in 2003, they were able to spend their free time enjoying their grandchildren and their many activities. In 2008, Dave, fondly referred to as ‘Poppy” by family and friends, and Cookie relocated to Sparks, Nevada to be with their daughter Michelle and her children. Dave and Cookie were avid fans and shareholders of the Green Bay Packers, traveling to Green Bay on several occasions to partake in the Lambeau experience. “Go, Pack, Go!” David was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years and his granddaughter, Robynne. In addition to his love of football, Pop enjoyed binge-watching Professional Wrestling and all westerns.
