The world lost the most amazing and compassionate human this week. Our dad has always been our rock, inspiration, and hero. His ethics were impeccable and he always acted from a place of fairness. He treated everyone with respect and never said anything bad about anyone. Many who knew him well describe him as a saint- because of his patience and calm demeanor, no matter what storm was happening around him. His patients from his practice knew him as gentle, painless, and "the dentist with the funny ties." Our dad's instinct for listening and knowing what people needed was unparalleled. He was brilliant, but humble. He wouldn't mention his PhD in addition to his DDS- but his intellegence shown through in his wit, puns, dad jokes, trival pursuit prowess, and ability to help his kids with complex homework. Besides being a dentist, he also was a passionate videographer- volunteering to video shows, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, and other life events- because he loved it. He used his metal working skills from dentistry to design jewelry (including our parents wedding rings) and to do lights/sound for shows (he started to be in the theater with us- but stayed because he became part of the community). He would sometimes drive 100 miles in an afternoon, shuttling us to activities. We will miss his warm hugs, inside jokes, Groucho Marx impressions, quacking (he could speak "duck"), and sage advice. We are grateful for being able to spend the last four years with him in Boston. The world is a better place because of him. We cannot begin to express the magnitude of this loss. We love him more than anything. Thank you all for loving him too. It was the easiest thing in the world to do.

Marc was more than just a good guy and a loved family member. He had a warm, loving soul, and a confident peace about him no matter what drama he faced… whether at home or at the practice. I knew him in both environments as his cousin and his patient. His calm and humor always put me at ease in the dental chair. And it was a privilege and a pleasure to be with him and the whole Elson family through my teen years. The world was a much brighter place with him in it, and I look forward to seeing him again on the brighter side of eternity. My deep sympathy for Sandy, his daughters, and all his closest family. May Marc’s spirit shine brightly in their hearts now and always.
Colin an Esther Pulllan
As everyone who knew Marc knows, he was an amazing man. He earned a DDS, and a Ph.D. He was incredibly sensitive. If a patient was a child who needed procedure involving pain, he referred the child to another dentist. He didn’t want that child to associate him with pain. He loved the finer thing in life, such as the Marx Brothers and the Beatles. He was a kind and gentle man. I never heard him say an unkind word. I never heard him complain. I never saw him be less than respectful to anyone.

When Marc retired from his dental practice, he had boxes & boxes of magazines, books, periodicals and more. He gave me a call at WHS & asked if I would be willing to accept this donation thinking it all might be of use to the Anatomy program. I gratefully accepted. I have to admit I was surprised at the number of boxes he hauled up to the Science department. It took me a while to sort through it all. I was able to use a small portion of his donation. The rest I donated to a budding dental student. We had a wonderful chat before he left. Marc was a very generous, kind & thoughtful person. I am thankful I was able to keep tabs on him over the years through your Facebook postings, Lauren. Hugs to all. BOW/Anatomy

Lauren and Aubrey, our sincerest condolences. We know how profoundly you loved your father and how deeply you’ll miss him. Though we only met him once, we could tell how gentle and witty he was. May the very source of existence console you along with all who mourn Zion and Jerusalem. Rabbi Harold and Miriam Robinson
