Nanny merited to have a family she was really proud of and she was a big part of that family. We will miss her. We will miss her visits to us, to spend a yom tov with us, or share a simcha as well as our visits to her on vacation. All filled with Nanny's energy, her wisdom, her laugh. We will miss her hipness, her generosity and her kindness. She was always there for us. So loving, so giving. It is hard to think how the future will look without Nanny. Who will fill Nanny's place next yom tov? Who will tell us the newest story of who she met on the plane, or an old story about "Bagels and yax"? Nanny, we will truly miss you. I want to thank everyone for everything they did. I know there were a lot of acts of kindness done throughout this whole ordeal. It's hard to go into detail because I don't know all the details, being that I've been away pretty much the whole time. I don't want to sell anyone short or leave anyone out but there's one person I feel a special obligation to acknowledge: Mommy, thank you for everything you've done for Nanny no matter how hard it was for you, how draining, whether emotionally or physically. All the trips back and forth... All the calls you made did not fail. Every day of life is an accomplishment and you know that. Nanny, I want to personally ask forgiveness from you for any time I didn't have proper respect, did or said something I shouldn't have or didn't do or say something I should have. I love you, Yaakov

I met Flo through her dear friend, Lenore. We journeyed through life together as single gals in Los Angeles and later as parents. Our kids grew up together and we had so, so much fun! She courageously battled breast cancer twice and went on to help other cancer patients in her work at the Wellness Center. When I think of Flo, I feel love and joy. Even though I had not seen her in the past several years, I will miss her.

Hi everyone thank you all for being here, I’m sure nanny is having fomo right now. For those of you who don’t know me I’m Sarah solway muller granddaughter of Florence Porter Tapp and her favorite person-she told me many times, I actually have proof. I want to Start with thank yous: -to my Poppy for loving nanny selflessly through it all especially the last few months you did it all and really stepped up staying home with her most days so she wouldn’t be alone. For those of you who know their busy schedules and life style you know what a sacrifice that was. -to my aunt Sandy being there and stepping up always and being such a positive and calming presence in everyone’s lives. You somehow know the perfect balance in giving advice but being a quiet support system at times. Thank you for being so respectful. -to uncle Kenny and Michael she loved you very much and looked forward to spending time with you. Thank you for bringing joy into her life. -to My mom for maintaining a close relationship with nanny all those years despite living miles away. This may not seem like a big accomplishment but with time difference, 4 kids, work and just life it’s easy to loose touch. This in turn gave us the opportunity to cultivate a close relationship that not everyone gets to have with a grandparents -to My father for supporting us in coming to LA every summer to visit and staying by nanny and poppy’s house even tho there was unlimited tv, soda and other splurges he didn’t always appreciate. These two weeks every summer led to a close grandparent grandchild relationship that knew no bounds -to her social circle, you were the light of her life. She cherished birthdays, movie groups, book club, mystery nights, square dancing, havara, Micha, majon etc I’m sure I’m missing some because if there was a group or an event nanny would be there. Thank you for all your calls, txts, emails and more over the past few months. She appreciated it more than you know. -last but certainly not least to Nanny for everything. Your laughter and love of life. Your support and unconditional love. Your wise words and listening ear. Your positive attitude and fomo mentality made you always up for an adventure and never wanting to miss a family event or holiday. You showed up for us in so many aspects and made us as kids feel important. Thank you for teaching us to greet everyone with a smile and to judge everyone favorably. Thank you for treating my husband Shlomo like a real grandson and making him feel so welcome in our family he cherished the relationship he had with you especially since he didn’t grow up with grandparents. He will miss you deeply. You raised a wonderful family, were the most perfect grandmother, a favorite friend, devoted daughter, supportive wife and all around a genuinely good person. You will be missed especially during Passover Seder where you’d crack up at the serious matzah chewing, at the Shabbat table when everyone would sing together and of course anytime there’s good food especially chocolate around. I know you would always say when you were tired you’ll rest when you’re gone, now that times come. Rest in peace nanny until we meet again.

I was privileged to meet Flo through her daughter, Allison, who loved visiting her amazing Mom! Allison is a close friend of mine. To me, Flo was a woman with a big beautiful smile on her face who embraced life to the fullest. She was so proud of her beautiful grandkids. Flo had gotten cancer when she was young and boy did she fight the battle! She was a role model to all around her to accept challenges in a positive way, fight them and when need be to live with them and not let the challenges stop you from enjoying life.

Comment avez-vous rencontré Florence?

Our family was lucky to have met Flo when her daughter Chana became our sister in law and Aunt. We got to be with her on many occasions and she always loved coming to Michigan and spending time whether it be the Jewish holidays or any simcha. Her happy place was being around family. We had great conversations She was a very smart and kind women. She will be forever missed.
