Frances Lee Onderwyzer

Fran Lee Onderwyzer (Glick), 81, of Chatsworth, CA, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 25th. One of three children born to the late Sarah Berg (Finkelstein)(Glick) and Emil Glick, she was raised in Detroit, Michigan but lived most of her adult life in Los Angeles, CA. Fran was a social worker and therapist, graduating with a bachelor’s in psychology from Antioch University and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Southern California. Fran was a beloved friend to many and a passionate therapist and social worker at Northridge Hospital for over 30 years. She guided and comforted end of life cancer patients and their families through the hardest of circumstances. She also had a private practice helping clients find clarity, confidence and strength in themselves. After retiring at the age of 80, she continued to lead a resiliency group at her residence at Brookdale in Chatsworth, where fellow residents met weekly to express their feelings. She was a congregant at Valley Outreach Synagogue and a member of the Purple Hat Group. Fran was an avid reader and loved spending time with her friends, family and her dog, Gus. Fran leaves behind her children, Lori Onderwyzer and her husband David Gold of Oakland, California, Renee Onderwyzer Havens and her husband Mark Havens of Wilson, Wyoming; four grandchildren, Abby and Lucy Onderwyzer Gold and Ethan and William Havens; her sister and husband Judi and Jim Silverman. In addition to her parents, Fran was predeceased by her sister Barbara Glick. Family and friends are invited to a service on Monday September 30th at 12pm at Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries at Forest Lawn. 5950 Forest Lawn Dr. Los Angeles, CA 90068.
