Loved Ones

In Loving Memory of Michael Jared Silver June 5, 1957 – November 6, 2025

Michael will be remembered as a kind, generous, and hardworking man whose gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He approached life with a friendly openness and a deep appreciation for simple joys: good wine, exceptional cheese, and the pleasure of sharing both with the people around him.

Michael was born on June 5, 1957, in Los Angeles to his loving parents, Ina and Harry Silver. As the eldest of three children, he grew up in Calabasas with his brother, Edward, and his sister, Julie. He graduated from Agoura High School in 1975 alongside his lifelong friend, Ron Hillman, and later earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from UCSB in 1979.

His love of numbers naturally led him into electrical engineering, where he followed in his father’s footsteps by continuing the work of Silver Engineering. He was a dedicated worker with a strong desire to succeed, and he took pride in the major projects and well-known clients he contributed to over the years.

Michael was a loving single father to his three children, Jessica, Megan, and Matthew. His children were the center of his world. He cared for them deeply and showed up for them in every way he could. He loved sharing the joys of his own childhood with them, and they will forever hold on to his thoughtfulness and his sense of humor. He cherished taking his family on memorable trips, sharing good meals, and creating meaningful experiences that they will carry with them always. His love will stay with them, and his legacy will continue through their children.

His greatest joy later in life was becoming “Papí” to his three grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin, and Goldie. He loved them with all his heart, and his face lit up whenever they were near. They were a bright source of happiness for him, and he took deep pride in their lives and accomplishments.

Above all, Michael will be remembered as a generous, hardworking man whose love showed itself through action. He cared deeply for his family, supported those around him in any way he could, and created a lifetime of stories, kindnesses, and shared joys that will continue to live on.

Though his absence leaves a profound emptiness, the memory of who he was (his humor, his generosity, and the love he held for his family) remains a lasting testament to his life.

He is deeply missed, and he will be warmly remembered by all who knew him.

I was so sad to just learn of Michael’s passing. I realized I had not seen him post or like anything on Facebook for quite a while so I did a little searching and saw the very sad news. We met at a Woodland wine store event and yes, he brought cheese for everyone! Another time we went to a wine event in Ojai and wound up ditching the event, but spent hours talking overlooking the water. He came to my home , once again with cheese… He held a special place in my heart and I really am so sad to hear this news. Sending love and prayers to his family and children.

This is a beautiful tribute to Michael. I was close friends with his daughters growing up and spent a lot of time at the Silver house. Michael was always so welcoming and loving, and loved to test us on classic music knowledge! I will carry these fond memories with me forever. Sending love to the Silver family.
