Lenore Rose
February 7th, 1944 - December 27th, 2024
February 7th, 1944 - December 27th, 2024
Lenore Fay Jacobs Rose passed away peacefully on the evening of December 27, 2024, not far from her home in Los Angeles, California.
Lenore was born on February 7, 1944 in Youngstown, Ohio. Her parents were Sidney and Shirley (Brody) Jacobs. She graduated from Boardman High School in 1962 and received a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio State University in June 1968. Lenore later earned a Master of Social Work at Wayne State University in Detroit.
Lenore married Marc Rose in 1968 and moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she gave birth to her first child, Adam. She later moved to Skokie, Illinois, where Joanna was born. Lenore and Marc eventually moved to Houston, Texas, where her third child, Alyssa, was born. Ultimately, Lenore and her family moved to Southern California, where her remaining three children, Jonathan, Hilary, and David, were born. For the past 24 years, Lenore worked as a docent at the Museum of Tolerance, which is a clear testament to her dedication to the principles of compassion and justice.
Lenore loved domestic and international travel, visiting many countries around the world and much of the United States. She had many long-time friends who enjoyed joining Lenore on her travels and who also joined her in playing tennis and pickleball. Lenore also spent many years working with a personal trainer, focused on maintaining her mental and physical fitness. Lenore was an avid reader and loved movies, establishing herself as the most reliable authority on what to read or watch. Most of all, Lenore loved visiting her children and 12 grandchildren in Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Denver, and Baltimore.
She was diagnosed with glioblastoma in August 2024, and although she underwent a series of treatments at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, ultimately, she succumbed to this fatal form of brain cancer. All who knew Lenore will miss her unique wit and joy that she shared with everyone.
Lenore is survived by five of her children: Adam, Joanna (Neal), Jonathan (Chedva), Hilary (David), and David (Michal), and their children (her 12 grandchildren). She is also survived by her brother, Leonard, of Asheville, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations, in her name, to either the Museum of Tolerance or a charity of your choice.
