Tsilya Altman

On July 27, 2022, Tsilya Altman peacefully passed away, but her memory lives on with all who knew her. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her twin sons, Alexander and Dmitriy Altman. She was a caring and supportive grandmother to her four grandchildren, Aaron, Juliet, Zhanna, and Boaz. Tsilya was born in Tashkent on November 14, 1939. She was the youngest with two older brothers. She grew up in a time of great struggle but managed to persevere. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and worked for the Central Scientific Bureau as a Scientist. She came to California in 1995 and was an assistant professor at the University of Southern California until her retirement. Her favorite job of all was being a mother and grandmother. Tsilya loved learning which did not stop as she aged. She enjoyed science, linguistics, and the arts. She also enjoyed watching opera, learning new things and finding patterns in everything. She was kind, understanding and always gave of herself never complaining. Tsilya will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
