Ways you can honor Ania's memory:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ania Bloch, a cherished mother, devoted wife, beloved sister, and grandmother, on March 21,2026, in Sherman Oaks, California. Born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1946 and raised in Freehold, New Jersey, Ania's journey through life was marked by resilience, kindness, and an unwavering love for her family.
Anna Marie "Ania" Gelblum was the daughter of Jacob and Fela Gelblum and the beloved sister of Inet Abraham. She graduated from Drew University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1968, and soon after, earned a Master of Library Science from Rutgers University. These academic achievements provided her with a foundation for a fulfilling career as a librarian, where her attention to detail and love for knowledge inspired many.
In her personal life, Ania was a dedicated homemaker. She created a warm and inviting space for her family, where laughter and love flourished. Ania's kindness, generosity, and curiosity knew no bounds, and she continually sought to nurture those around her leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ania found joy in the simple pleasures of life—cooking family recipes, exploring new destinations, and spending quality time with her family. Her love of reading opened the doors to countless adventures and was a passion she cherished. She took immense pride in watching her children, Jonathan and Alissa, grow into remarkable individuals.
Ania is survived by her beloved husband, Jeff, her son Jonathan, her daughter Alissa, her granddaughter Alaïa, her sister Inet, her nephew David, and her niece Joanne. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and treasured memories that will forever warm their hearts.
A funeral service will be held at Mt. Sinai Hollywood Hills on Thursday, March 26th, at 10 AM, where family and friends are invited to celebrate Ania’s legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor, a cause that reflects the compassion Ania had for others.
Ania’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, creativity, and wisdom. As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we are grateful for the time shared and the memories created. May her spirit continue to inspire kindness and generosity in all of us.
