Edna Levine June 7, 1927 – June 6, 2025
Edna Levine, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at home in Sherman Oaks on June 6, 2025, just one day before her 98th birthday, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Venice, California, Edna spent her early years near the beach and often spoke fondly of that time. She loved playing beach volleyball and spending time by the ocean with friends. She was also the Girls’ Student Body President at Venice High School and remained a proud graduate and alumna throughout her life. After marrying the love of her life, Merle Levine, in 1946, she moved to Sherman Oaks, where they built a life together rooted in love, family, and hard work. Together, they ran a successful IHOP restaurant for 30 years and raised four daughters with care and unwavering dedication.
Edna was known for her warmth, humor, generosity, strength, and the way she made everyone around her feel seen and loved. She had a remarkable ability to remember the small things—your favorite snack, a special date, a meaningful story—and she brought joy to every celebration. She lived for her family, and her joy in their lives was unmistakable.
She was strong and stylish, sharp and nurturing, curious and deeply kind. Whether taking her grandkids shopping, telling stories from her youth, or insisting that every birthday have balloons, she taught those around her to show up with love—and to reapply their lipstick at the end of a meal.
Edna is survived by her daughters, Judy Reed, Susan Jebrock (Larry), Carol Davis (Robert), and Janice Williams; her grandchildren, Alan Reed (Melissa), Shawn Williams (April), Darren Reed (Sara), Tara Margolis (Adam), Sarah Jebrock (Ezra), and Ali Jebrock (Taylor); and her great-grandchildren, Noa, Sam, Caleb, Max, Meryl, Maya, and Milo.
A service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA.
Her presence and profound love will live on in all who had the joy of knowing her.
