Harvey Steven Niems

Harvey Steven Niems (aka Harvey Stevens) was born in

Chicago, IL on February 22, 1941, to Maurey and Mary

Niems. He passed away peacefully at 4:30 am on

Saturday, June 29, at the age of 83, at St. John’s Hospital

in Santa Monica due to life altering infections.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Stuart

and Kenneth, and his late wife Gayle Chavkin-Niems. He

is survived by his children Jeffrey Niems, Joel Niems, Jill

and Brian Curry, and his grandchildren Isaac, Joseph,

Sekar, and Jacob Niems, Kaela and Dylan Curry, as well

as his significant other, Bryna Weis Vener, and many other

beloved family members.

Harvey built successful businesses selling laces and trims

to the garment industry and was the creator of the famed

Insta-Dress in the 70’s.

Harvey left an impression and a smile on everyone he

met. We will all miss him immensely and will never forget

him and all of his humor and love.

His memorial service will be held at Noon on Sunday, July

7, at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, 5950 Forest Lawn Dr,

Los Angeles, CA 90068. In lieu of flowers, the family

suggests a donation be made in his name to either Jewish

Federation Los Angeles or to PMG Awareness. PMG

(Polymicrogyria) is a condition his granddaughter, Kaela

Curry, has had her entire life.
