Kathy Cucher
December 8th, 1948 - January 3rd, 2026
December 8th, 1948 - January 3rd, 2026
Kathy Cucher was born in Czechoslovakia and came to America at the age of four. She was the devoted wife of Howard for 59 years, a loving big sister to Stephen, and a deeply cherished mother and grandmother to her boys—Craig, Rob, Devin, Aidan, and Jonny. She loved her daughters-in-law, Karina and Lala, as her own. Kathy was, above all, about love.
After graduating from UCLA, Kathy began her career as a teacher before dedicating her professional life to nonprofit work as a fundraiser and event planner. She worked with the Constitutional Rights Foundation, the Jewish Federation, Cedars-Sinai, and the American Jewish Committee, always putting her heart into causes focused on helping others. Even in retirement, her commitment to giving back never wavered.
The daughter of Holocaust survivors Eugene and Martha Ehrlich, Kathy was inspired by her parents’ resilience, kindness, generosity and devotion to family. Their journey—from Ellis Island to Modesto and eventually Los Angeles—shaped the compassionate, selfless person she became.
Kathy loved hosting holidays, celebrating birthdays, reading, writing, and spending time with her grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was taking the kids to the bookstore and engaging them in conversation, not just sharing her own thoughts but always interested in their opinions and ideas. She had a vibrant personality, a warm smile, and an unforgettable laugh. A natural listener and source of comfort, she offered kindness, wisdom, and calm to all who knew her.
Kathy often ended her prayers with wishes for health, happiness, love, and peace of mind—for everyone. Her beautiful spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
