It is with great shock and sadness that we announce the passing of Marianna “Gina” Riemer on April 12th, 2025. Marianna truly embodied the phrase “a life well-lived” and anyone who knew Marianna shares in the disbelief that her immeasurable force will no longer be with us. Marianna was born in Budapest, Hungary to Ilona (Schnur) and Antal “Teddy” Bhiari on April 23, 1938. It was in Budapest that Marianna met her dearest Husband of 67 years, George Riemer. George and Marianna endured much in their early years having survived the Holocaust, which took the lives of many beloved family members and later escaping from Communist Hungary in 1956-landing at Camp Kilmer in NJ before traveling by train (with Marianna’s Mother, Stepfather (Ernest Tabori), Sister Suzi and her Husband Moreno Zoller to their ultimate destination of Los Angeles, California.

It was in Los Angeles that Marianna emerged from her traumatic past and worked hard to secure a bright future alongside George. For many years Marianna was employed at A Perfect Foto-photo processing lab, before changing direction and starting a successful hot dog stand located in Van Nuys, California named Happy Dogs-which she would proudly mention, was featured in an episode of Hart To Hart. The episode ALSO features Marianna, who in true fashion sweet-talked her way into making her television debut! Marianna’s strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit continued to lead her -starting an interior design business and eventually a thriving career as a jewelry designer.

Whatever it might be, Marianna was sure to devote her whole self to matters of interest-whether it was exceling at the gym, her quest for the perfect outfit/ perfect gift for a loved one, or the pursuit of the ultimate Cadillac Margarita, Marianna always did so with vigor. She wasn’t one to settle for less than “the best”, especially when it came to what she wanted for her family, and in particular when it came to what she wanted for her son Ronald.

Marianna is survived by her cherished loved ones: Son, Ronald; Daughter-in-Law, Amy; and Grandchildren, Ryan, Avery and Ayla. In addition to her “blood family”, Marianna leaves behind a number of friends who have stood beside her for many years and whom she loved and considered her family as well. Services for Marianna will be held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park located at 5950 Forest Lawn Drive in Los Angeles on April 16th at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to: The American Heart Association.
