\"With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Mel Salz, a dedicated husband, father, and friend. Mel passed away on February 6th, 2024, knowing that he was deeply loved by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Lillian, and his wife of forty-three years, Mimi Salz. Mel was born in Pennsylvania, and moved to Pasadena, California prior to his school years. He later relocated to Claremont, California, merging the Salz and Singer families. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, and continued his commitment to serve and contribute to his community. He most recently volunteered with the LaVerne Police Department in the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP). Mel\'s selflessness and dedication left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether representing his business or living as a member of his community, he built and maintained long lasting relationships with everyone he met. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts. Mel is survived by his children; Ron, Cindy, Stephanie, Linda, Jeff, Jim, and Shellie; his brother, Joel, and his fiancé Carolyn. He will also be remembered fondly by his eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation to honor Mel\'s memory and support those affected by this debilitating disease. Your generosity during this difficult time is deeply appreciated.\"

To the whole Salz extended family, My sincerest condolences.Mel was an amazing friend to my Dad Norman for over 40 years. My dad also in the Mens garment industry and met at a Mens show, where a forever friendship was built. They only met a few times in person for the remainder of their friendship, but they remained steadfast friends for the rest of my Dads life , which ended sadly at the age of 93 in 2021. I don’t know what I would have done without Mel’s support for me and my Dad throughout Covid lockdown, as my Dad was stuck in 1 room for almost 16months. Mel and I made sure we spoke to my Dad everyday, keep him walking in his room, and keep him oriented to reality. Mel would call my Dad 2-3 times a day, all while taking care of himself and a very sick Mimi( hope spelling ok). I don’t know if I could have made it through without his help. The highlight was meeting Mel, March 2023 in Las Vegas. Again unselfishly driving out , just so he could meet me in person. Bless you Mel, for all the years of steadfast friendship & commitment . Thank you, Love Robin Franzoni ( will add my favorite picture)

I would like express my condolences to the family and close friends of Mel. Although I only knew him for a very short time as a volunteer, Mel was one of the nicest and caring people I have ever met. He was always willing to help others and had a great personality. He will be missed.
