Tova Rattner
February 28th, 1929 - October 17th, 2024
February 28th, 1929 - October 17th, 2024
Tova Rattner was born February 28th, 1929 in Ostrowiec, Poland, the youngest of 4 children. As a child, she loved learning, always asking her older brothers to explain things to her. In 1944, Tova was sent to Auschwitz, then to Bergen-Belsen. After liberation, she made her way to Palestine and served in the Army. After learning that her sister, Bluma, had survived, in 1954 she came to the US to see her and her two young daughters. There she met Solomon Rattner (1929-2021). They married in 1958 and had two children, Larry and Donna. Tova got a job at a leather company where she worked for 29 years. She became the matriarch of a large circle of friends and found family, many of whom were also Holocaust survivors. Tova found joy in her children, nieces, and their growing families. She saw her grandchildren daily throughout their childhoods, teaching them games and doting on them. For information about services, please see the Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills website. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tova's name to OPICA, the memory care program where Tova spent many happy hours toward the end of her life."
