Mementos

"For as long as we live, they too will live, for they are now a part of us as, We remember them."

Aileen Hilda Rothschild, born September 7th 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her home in West Hills at the age of 97 on February 28, 2025. Lead by grace, kindness, and the love for her family, Alieen lived a full, long, fulfilled life.

After graduating early at 16, she moved to California and found herself in sunny Los Angeles where a new adventure began. After gaining employment at a department store, she began modeling, sharing her beauty and elegance with the world.

One fateful evening, in starry eyed Los Angeles, Alieen met a handsome soldier, who’d just returned from The War. It was that night, at a young Jewish social, where she met and danced with the love of her life, Robert Rothschild aka B.O.B. (a shidduch if I ever heard of one).

Following their wedding, they began their life together at a quaint apartment on King’s Road, where their tiny family of two grew to three, with the birth of their son Larry. Three years later their first daughter Cheryl joined them, followed by their youngest daughter Diane, six years later. Their growing family needed a bit more room, leading them to their next big adventure: Mammoth Avenue.

It was there, on the infamous Mammoth Avenue, that Aileen and B.O.B met those who would become their life-long friends. For over 40 years they shared life’s joyful moments together, hosting and attending endless Mystery Nights, always dressed to the nines.

A trail of beauty followed Aileen everywhere she went, in every garden she nurtured, in every room she graced, never not leaving a touch of her glamour. Forever full of poise, the epitome of perfection, her life was a testament of the virtues she embodied most. Aileen’s Hebrew name, Haiya Hinda, translates to “Living Doe” in Hebrew, symbolizing living grace, beauty and gentleness. A name so divinely fitting.

Her most cherished moments lay in the legacy she leaves behind: her beloved family of three children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will continue to embody the values she held dear. Aileen is survived by sister Lorraine, her son Larry, daughter Diane, grandchildren David, Brandon, Matthew, Nicole, Jenna, Sarah, Olivia, and her great-grandchildren Emilia, Cooper, and Baker.
