In Loving Memory of Antonio “Tony” Lopez

November 10, 1946 – June 20, 2026

Antonio “Tony” Lopez, 79, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026.

Born on November 10, 1946, in Jalisco, Mexico, to Jose and Soledad Lopez, Tony came to the United States alone as a young teenager with determination and an extraordinary work ethic. He began as a busboy at The Bagel, a deli and restaurant on South Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles, where he learned every aspect of the business before eventually purchasing it from the original owners upon their retirement. He later owned and operated Nick’s Coffee Shop on Pico Boulevard, managed the kitchen operations at The Cavendish West on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, and spent more than 27 years as a wholesale produce distributor specializing in cherimoyas and guavas. Throughout his career, he earned a reputation for honesty, fairness, and integrity, believing that a handshake and a person’s word were enough.

Tony was warm, fun-loving, and easygoing, with a contagious laugh and a smile that could light up a room. He loved a good joke, enjoyed an innocent prank, and had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome. His generous heart, kind spirit, unwavering optimism, and genuine interest in others created lifelong friendships with customers, colleagues, neighbors, and friends alike.

Above all else, Tony’s greatest joy was his family. He was the steady anchor of those he loved, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His strength, kindness, generosity, and work ethic will continue to live on through the family he cherished so deeply.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife of more than 36 years, Marla; his children, Tommy (Letty), April, and Sarah (Jeffrey); his grandchildren, Alyssa, Michael, and Max; his mother-in-law, Sue; his 12 siblings and their spouses; Marla’s three brothers and two sisters-in-law; and about 50 combined nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Tony will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Those who knew him will forever hear his familiar reassurance: “Don’t worry about it.”
