Judith "Judy" Dunn Dichter

May 20th, 1944 - October 1st, 2026

May 20th, 1944 - October 1st, 2026

This past Thursday, October 1st we lost our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Judith Dunn Dichter was the youngest of four children (Rick, Nancy, and twin-brother Jim) born to Jack and Elizabeth Dunn in Detroit, Michigan in 1944. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Terry; her children David, Lisa (Ethan) Opolion, and Matthew (Amy); and their grandchildren, Elliott, Ari, Charlie, and Isla; as well as her nephews, nieces, and countless cousins near and far.

Judy spent her entire life in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. She attended North Hollywood High School and then went on to UCLA and CSUN earning Masters Degrees in Education and Psychology. She spent much of her career at Coldwater Canyon Elementary School teaching there for well over 20 years. She then went on to become an administrator, serving as Assistant Principal and Principal at various elementary schools throughout the valley, most notably at Dixie Canyon Elementary. After retirement she continued to have deep connections with her LAUSD friends and colleagues and served as a mentor for younger elementary school principals.

In her retirement Judy cherished time with her friends, husband, children, and grandchildren. An avid LA Dodgers fan, she also enjoyed her girls trips, movie clubs, mah jong, and outings to performances at the Pantages Theater and Hollywood Bowl.

Please join us to honor Judy’s life and memory on Tuesday, October 6 at 10a
