I am so deeply saddened at learning the passing of Robin (or as I refer to her, Ms.Solomon). Ms.Solomon was my elementary school teacher in 3rd and 4th grade at Eastman Ave, and I just wanted to share a few words for her. To this day, I believe that Robin is the reason why I excelled in English in school, long after elementary. She laid an english foundation for me, that as a young daughter of Mexican immigrants is very challenging. I have memories of rewriting my cursive and walking up to her to show her my improvement, and she was incredibly supportive. I also have memories of staying afterschool with her and assisting her with whatever she needed It's funny was sticks in our memories of people. I learned many things from Ms.Solomon. I remember around Holiday season, while students in other classes sang Christmas carols, Ms.Solomon had us learn "Oh Hanukkah" and dance in a circle. I didn't know what Judaism was, or what it meant to be jewish, but I sure as heck knew how to sing the crap out of that song. I still know the lyrics to this day, and funnily enough, I am engaged to a wonderful Jewish man. I also have a memory of her searching up the weather in google on the classroom computer by typing "weather 90023", and from there on, whenever I wanted to check the weather, I also typed "weather 90023". I still do to this day except my zip code has changed. Ms.Robin was a wonderful teacher, and has made such an impact on me. I am deeply deeply saddened of her passing, yet I remain forever grateful for her. Thank you Ms.Solomon, for all those you helped in your life. Even if you may not know it, you are are living through us. We all love you deeply.
