Sandra A Coller
March 17th, 1942 - May 14th, 2022
March 17th, 1942 - May 14th, 2022
Sandra Arlene Coller, 80, passed away on May 14th. 2022 at her home in Los
Angeles, California.
Sandra, affectionately known as Sandy, was born on March 17, 1942 in
Pittsburgh, PA to loving parents Celia and Philip Solomon. She grew up with two
siblings Marilyn Solomon Beck and Hank Solomon. Although they had not lived in
the same cities for many years, they remained close, speaking on the phone
often and gathering for family milestones.
She spent her early years in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh and
attended Allderdice High School and Robert Morris School of Business. She went
on to work as an executive assistant at several non profit organizations, including
the Boy Scouts of America and the National Counsel for Jewish Women. It was
there that she helped to organize large fundraising events, an accomplishment
she was very proud of.
Sandra was married in 1964 and soon after moved to Los Angeles, where she
made her home for 55 years . From 1969-1970 She briefly lived in Hawaii, where
her daughter Beth was born. In 1971, she welcomed a second child, Staci, born
in Los Angeles. She was a devoted mother, who’s children always remained her
number one priority.
She loved the beach and could be found there often when her children were
young, meeting friends and spending all day in the sun. She liked to dance and
would frequent discos with her girlfriends. She was an avid movie goer and
enjoyed watching many types of films, including foreign and independent films,
which she liked to see with her daughters. She enjoyed spending time with
friends and had close friendships, some of which were 40-50 years long. She
loved her coffee and carried around her own bag of Sweet and Low packets, so
she could have it just the way she liked. She loved a good corned beef sandwich
and although, she didn’t grow up exposed to many kinds of food, she became a
fan of Thai and Mexican food. She appreciated art and enjoyed going to
museums. She liked to travel and enjoyed going on road trips with her partner,
Martin.
Sandra is survived by her daughters, Beth and Staci and Beth’s partner Carlos;
her partner Martin; her sister Marilyn and Marilyn’s husband Irv; her brother Hank
and his wife Janet and her many nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society
