What is your favorite memory shared with Marilyn?

Marilyn had been a friend of my mother's but life had pulled them in different directions over the years so I didn't know her well. She just so happened to teach at my high school so I knew of her but never had her class. When I was 22 years old, my mother passed away and a few months later I lost my grandmother. I found myself orphaned. My godparents, still strong in the Jewish community reached out to her. Marilyn showed up right away to help me me set up after my grandmother's funerial services and prepared me for Shiva. Shiva is a time for mourners to come together for spiritual and emotional healing and that is what did. She was a huge support and comforted me so much during those 7 days. She made sure I had food and emotional support. She also had some great advice for me regarding legal matters of obtaining my families property. Her acts of kindness and advice really helped ground me and prepare me for the future. I have never forgotten what she did for me. I hold a very big place in my heart for her. I hope one day to be able to carry on the tradition and help someone in their time of need. If only I can be as impactful as she was. Thank you, Marilyn Lubarsky. I know my mom has a big hug to give you up in heaven.

How did you meet Marilyn?

Marilyn & I attended Upland High School together, our paths didn't cross much during the '60s, but since 2020 a fun group of "UHS class of '70 girls" have gathered for monthly luncheons. We all enjoyed Marilyn's vivacious fun personality but her beautiful spirituality blessed me profoundly when she reached out personally in messages of recognition with wisdom & comfort - like a sacred balm or salve. It has been my honor & privilege getting to know her in recent months, it was short but sweet & significant.
