May 29th, 1919 - June 12th, 2023
Mildred Witzer passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023 at 104 years young. She will join her beloved husband, Nathan, her mother, Anna, father, Goodman, and three siblings, Morris, Dorothy and Jack. Mildred, or Millie to everyone that knew her, was born on May 29, 1929 in Hartford, Connecticut to parents Goodman Block from New York City and Anna Factor Block from Kiev, Ukraine. Mildred graduated Connecticut Teachers College and went on to become an elementary school teacher at the Brown Street School, where her father attended with a myriad of famous schoolmates. She then when on to teach at The Frank A. Bracket School which she had attended as a child.
In 1943 she joined the Women\'s Marine Corp where she made Sergeant and served until the war ended in 1946. She reunited with her family which had moved to Los Angeles during the war. She went back to school and studied Business and landed a job at Zenith Plastics. In 1950 she met dashing, funny and brilliant Nathan Witzer. He swept her off her feet and they married three months later. After her children Marc, Barbra and Larry were born and off to school, she took over the administrative side of the family business of the various hospital and medical labs. She was very proud of her children, who inherited their parents\' work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. She was also proud of all her grandchildren, Jared, Gavin, Sydney, Nevada and Mirage, and their accomplishments, and her great grandchildren, Raine, Delaney, Lex and Easton, who each brought her much joy,
Mildred loved word games, crossword puzzles and anything that could keep her razor sharp wit and intellect going strong. Despite losing her eyesight to macular degeneration 6 years ago, she was able to do most of the crossword puzzle from the clues read aloud at the Watermark in Beverly Hills where she spent her later years living. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.
