Irit Krygier was born in Israel, grew up in New York City and lived most of her adult life in Los Angeles.

Irit lived an intensively creative life in the art world as a gallerist, art consultant, curator and critic specializing in contemporary art. Her gallery Irit Krygier Gallery and later as Krygier/Landau Contemporary Art is credited with showcasing the work of museum quality young artists. More recently she hosted Conversations on the Arts <conversationsonthearts.com> a lively audio interview podcast series. Irit lived her life with a keen eye and quick wit.

Ninan Kurien, her significant other, predeceased her. Irit is survived by her brother David Krygier and her sister Karen Krygier along with her extensive family who will miss her dearly.

RIP Irit. Irit was my very first friend at United Nations International School in NYC. We had many sleep overs and enjoyed listening to her mom Edith’s musical albums and tasting gefilte fish her grandmother prepared. We reconnected briefly around 2005 but lost touch again. Take care Karen and David for the loss of your dear sister.

I was a friend of Irit’s for many years. I thought of her as a brilliant woman. She had impeccable taste and knowledge in art. She knew how to recover herself in many instances. I know she had a sister in banking. I had the urge to find out about after many years of not being in contact. I have lived in an unpleasant situation. It is a senior living facility in the San Fernando Valley. It is located in Woodland Hills. I wish I could have seen her. But my life has been limited. I lost all of my trust. I live on Social Security. Good-bye.
