Samuel I Orenstein

February 5th, 1935 - March 2nd, 2023

February 5th, 1935 - March 2nd, 2023

Obituary: Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law Samuel Israel Orenstein, son of Max (Mordechai) and Ruth (Rachel) Orenstein z\"l, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2023 in Los Angeles, California. Samuel was born on February 5, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the youngest of three brothers, and married Dori in 1960, whom he met at age thirteen. The couple moved across the country with two young children from Milwaukee to Woodland Hills in 1965 and their third child was born into their new home in Woodland Hills. He loved and cared for his home (and especially his beautiful yard and swimming pool!) for almost sixty years. Sammy worked as a pharmacist around the greater Los Angeles area — from 3rd and Fairfax to Studio City and Westlake Village — for over 50 years, and was adored by those he served. He cared deeply about the wellbeing of others, was informed and thoughtful about current events, and had an absolutely unique wit. Everyone who knew him loved the twinkle in his eye. Sammy was the beloved father of three, David, Carmi (Kizer), and Daniel (Sigalit), grandfather of five, Uriel, Amalia, Na\'ama, Aviv, and Gilad, and uncle and great uncle to many. He was predeceased by his loving brothers Lazer (Miriam) and Shimon (Shonnie).   Donations: In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the Society for Protection of Nature in Israel, the Science and Environmental Health Network, or Habonim Dror Camp Gilboa. Shiva: We will be welcoming visitors on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for Shiva at the Village at Northridge, 9222 Corbin Ave. Apt. 239, Northridge. (Shiva minyan will be held Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., and Thursday at 7:00 p.m.)
