To Adam's family. I'm so very sorry to learn of the passing of Adam! I knew Adam from playing basketball in and around the San Fernando Valley from when he was in his late teens and saw him grown into a promising young man.. Adam would play basketball with us in his sometimes uncoordinated and interesting way where he would constantly be moving all over the court and out of position! However, he would always try his best and on occasions he was the best player on the court and be the leading scorer! Adam had a quirky personality which I found to be refreshing as he was genuinely hilarious and off beat with some of the subjects he would bring up! Some of my favorite memories that I remember of Adam are when we would sometimes shoot around and I would coach him on his mechanics. Another memory is when he challenged me to a race to see who was faster in a sprint. As I was already approaching 40 and he was in his early 20's and we ran several sprints which were very close! He was unaware of my age at the time... He indicated something a long the line of... "Papi Chulo! You are pretty fast for an old man!" which caused everyone in attendance to laugh.. I immediately told him he should consider track and field because he was actually pretty fast too and with his height he could probably make a local college squad and that I see potential in him... He smiled and indicated... He would think about it.. Adam would sometimes speak about his life and what was going on with him including some of his many struggles.. Those of us, whom he would confide in, would try to give him some of our best positive perspectives on life and what he was enduring and to not let things get him down or let things get to him too much! Adam and I never had any harsh words or interactions and I thought of him with brotherly affection! Although, it had been quite some time since I last saw Adam. It is with profound sadness that I write this and I truly feel his loss! He has left us way too soon! Please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of Adam! May God grant grace and comfort to you all in this trying time! May Adam's memory be a blessing to those who knew him! May Adam Rest In Heavenly Peace! Sincerely, Ronael Thomas, Jr. (Papi Chulo)
