Souvenirs

There are stars up above, so far away we only see their light long, long after the star itself is gone. And so it is with people that we loved — their memories keep shining ever brightly though their time with us is done.

Arlene Bernstein Karon:

Arlene was born on July 8, 1948, in the city of Los Angeles, CA. From the golden streets of LA to the lively learning environments she lovingly cultivated, Arlene's journey through life was marked by a dedication to education and an infectious joy that touched everyone she met. Arlene pursued higher education at Cal State Northridge, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Education. This academic foundation set her 40-year career as an elementary school teacher under the Los Angeles Unified School District. Beyond the classroom, Arlene had a quirky and exuberant side that enlivened her community. She was an active member of the Sweet Adelines in the San Fernando Valley, where she delighted in singing and brought smiles to many. Her interests in music were a testament to her vibrant spirit and kind nature. Arlene's quick wit could brighten even the dullest day. She was equally well-known for her loyalty and kindness. Her legacy lives on through her family

—Laura Balazs, Robert Bernstein, and Julie Bernstein—who hold treasured memories.

We will gather for a memorial at her gravesite #4048 space 2on September 15, 2024, at 1 p.m., to remember her life and bid her farewell.

In memory of Arlene, donations can be made to charities dedicated to children's education and the arts, fitting tributes to the passions that fueled her life.

Dear Arlene, I did not know that you had left us, I found out through someone in Sweet Adelines. I enjoyed the time we spent together singing in the Santa Monica Chorus. Your were a good friend and I always enjoyed our chats. Thank you for trusting me as a resource when you considered possible moves. God bless you.

"I'm Free" Don't grieve for me for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay, another day, to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I've found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I've savored much. Good friends, good times, my loved one's touch. If my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Life up your heart, rejoice with me. God wanted me now, He set me free.
