Beverly Faye Rose
28 juin 1932 - 1 décembre 2025
28 juin 1932 - 1 décembre 2025
We are greatly saddened by the unexpected passing of Beverly (Bev) Rose. She is
survived by her three kids, their spouses, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was an amazing mom and “Nana”. She had friends of all ages and from all walks of life.
Everyone who knew her loved her, from her own friends to her kids’ friends, to the people she met in her art classes, book groups, and even at the market!
Bev was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1932 to immigrant parents. When she was 12, her
mother divorced her father and took her to live in a small house in Venice Beach, California. Her
two older brothers, Alvie and Julie, were in the military and returned to live in Ohio at the end of the war. Bev missed her brothers terribly. Bev’s mother, Matilda, took in boarders and bought and resold items at rummage sales and flea markets to make ends meet. She was a strong and independent woman who worked hard as a single mom to give Bev a good life.
Bev graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in social work from UCLA and worked briefly as a social worker. In 1953, she met our dad, George, a holocaust survivor, and married him in 1954, foregoing plans to pursue a Master’s Degree. George was the love of her life. Together, they were wonderful parents to their 3 kids. Bev loved her role as a stay at home mom, and she and George shared many common interests.
When Darci, their youngest, was in high school, Bev got a job as a weight loss counselor.
Feeling ill-equipped to help her clients with issues contributing to their eating disorders, Bev
pursued a Master’s Degree and got a Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor license. She started her own practice and worked with clients with eating disorders for several years.
After George retired, Bev gave up her therapy practice and decided to take up painting. She took numerous classes in watercolor and oil painting into her 90s, and produced some amazing work. Bev even took painting classes in Europe, fulfilling both her love of travel and art. She also travelled to see the world, both overseas and domestically, with George, the kids, the grandkids, and with friends. Travelling is what she missed the most as she got older.
After George died in a car accident, Bev missed him terribly, ultimately moving out of
their home in the San Fernando Valley to Sacramento, where she has lived for the last 10 years.
She immediately got involved with the local temple, and signed up for art classes. While Bev kept busy with all her hobbies, her passion has always been spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. When the kids were young, Bev relished her role of “Nana,” getting down on the floor to play anything they wanted, baking cut-out cookies, and doing art. As the grandkids got older, Nana became their confidante, listening patiently and then giving advice if they seemed to want it.
Bev will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her, but her family, including her loving pup Greta, will miss her most of all. Although many lovely memories will help, there will be an emptiness in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, Mom. We love you.
Since people have asked, Beverly gave to many charities, but had a soft spot for helping the homeless, immigrants, animals, and Jewish causes, including Congregation B’nai Israel in Sacramento. She also supported pancreatic cancer research, as our family has lost many to that horrible disease.

We are so sorry to hear about Beverly's passing. She and George were my mothers and fathers (Judy and Ed London) best friends for many years. Beverly and Judy spent many hours working together on their family collage books, traveling together and spending countless hours cooking and socializing and talking about family. They had many beautiful memories together that will stay with us always. Thank you for sharing this, may Beverly's memory be a blessing to you and to all who share these wonderful memories.

Beverly was a friend of my mother, Judy London, for many, many years in Los Angeles. They met when both of them were getting their master's degrees at Cal State Fullerton. (And George was my eye doctor when I lived in Los Angeles as a newly minted computer programmer back in the mid 1980's.) She and George did many things with my parents and they were very saddened when George died and Beverly moved away. We did not know that Beverly had also passed away and are very sorry for your loss.
