She always had a big smile and encouraging words. My two sisters, brother and myself grew up taking lessons at the studio in Southfield, MI. Miss Julie created so many opportunities and memories through our dance experiences. One year she wanted a unique number in the recital and set her eyes on us. She approached my mother and within a week my whole family (all 9 of us, 5 untrained dancers) were in the studio rehearsing the Gypsy Overture in tap shoes. She had a way of convincing people to believe in her vision, and she was right. Recital time came and each night we performed to applause. This memory is cherished in our family. Later when she and Joe Tremaine collaborated, new opportunities opened up to dancers in smaller towns. We participated in the conventions and traveled to California on scholarship. Due to her influence and strong work ethic, my two sisters Diane Andrews and Mary Harper, owned a successful studio in Maryland for 37 years and I taught my son, Damian, who currently teaches and brings his students to compete in Tremaine competitions. Thank you Miss Julie for being a huge part of our lives. Our deepest condolences to the family. We appreciate you sharing her with us. My deepest condolences to my lifelong friend Julie Adler Sparage. I literally grew up with Julie at her studio on Wyoming in Detroit.I took jazz & tap and remember dancing to the Peppermint Twist with my twin sisters Suzi & Margi. I also helped out at every recital until she sold the studio to Barbara Fink. I knew Ed and the Sparage kids. Julie graduated Central High School in 1940 with my mother Peggy Dermer Miller. May the incredibly talented and wonderful Julie’s memory always be a beautiful blessing and I’m sure she’s already dancing a tine step in heaven. Love, Larry Miller
