Born in 1934, in New Jersey, he moved to California as a child with his parents and older brother, where he would build a distinguished creative career.

He was best known for writing the origin story for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in 1982, his Holocaust narrative Jacob’s Rescue, and for his contributions to television including award-winning work on Star Trek: The Next Generation. His essays appeared in The Forward, reflecting his deep engagement with Jewish life and thought.

A devoted member of Valley Beth Shalom since 1975, he remained committed to faith, community, and learning throughout his life. His legacy lives on through his writing, his family, and the many readers and viewers touched by his work.
