Myles Stanford Weiss

2 janvier 1934 - 20 octobre 2026

2 janvier 1934 - 20 octobre 2026

The foundation of a family, a gentle warrior with a beautiful soul, a quiet leader, a selfless patriarch, a partner of seven decades, and a role model to countless has left the world with a little less light. Myles Stanford Weiss died on October 20th. He was born on 1/2/34 in New York to Rose Friedman and Louis Weiss. His birthdate was emblematic of the way in which he lived his life: with order, steadiness, and clarity. Myles moved to California just a few years later, where he would live the rest of his life. On June 25, 1956, Myles met the love of his life, Francine Kahan, who was his guiding light and the person who filled him with endless joy, abundant laughter, and the warmth of a thousand suns. They married on August 25, 1957, and walked by each other’s sides through every passing day. They raised three children in Los Angeles: first came Marc (Maggie), then Suzanne (Sandy), then Danielle (Jeff), and together they laid the foundation of a family that would span generations. Myles’ grandchildren, Cameron (z”l), Daniel (Elizabeth), Lauren, Alexandra (Alexander), Natalie (Zach), Ezra, Elias, Lena, and Mila, and his great-grandchildren, Caleb, Isabela, and Elliot were his whole world. A pioneer in the field of private investigation and recovery, he spent more than six decades working. After working full days at work, he continued by serving in leadership roles, including for Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center. He was a mentor to so many both inside and outside of his industry. No matter his professional accomplishments, Myles’ proudest achievement was his family. His weekly Shabbat calls to his children and grandchildren, the way his eyes lit up when his family walked into a room, and the way his arms outstretched to greet his loved ones could be felt through the miles that separated them. A jazz lover, an avid sports fan, and a voracious reader, Myles would always keep you on your toes and have a witty comeback or a song lyric to fit into any scene. Myles adored his extended family, and went on countless trips around the world with his wife and cousins. Myles was pure class, with a flair for a fabulous shirt and pair of cufflinks, he was always dressed to the nines.  A man of few words, when Myles spoke, everyone listened. He commanded a room, a Shabbat table, or a phone call because his words held such weight. When Myles told you he believed in you or he was proud of you, or when he hugged you on your way out the door, you felt like you could do anything in the world. We are all greater for having his love and admiration to guide us, and we will carry his light as we feel his immense loss.
